Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crystal Clear Received these last night and all I can say is WOW, amazing detail! I can hear vibrato in a singers voice, the vibration and intricate details in a clarinet, can discern and separate different singers voices in a group of three. Bass is punchy AND smooth. The only negative is what you might expect in a 2 way, is that they are a little cold and lack the warmth of a 3 way speaker with a 4 inch mid-range speaker. They are warmer and give a larger sound than the Klipsch without the tweeter being as harsh. I've long loved the JBL tweeters and punch in JBLs. These deliver. If you can't afford the smooth Studio 280s and 290s or lack the amp power, then these hit that sweet spot and do the job perfectly. Due to the white and black look, I call them my JBL Stormtroopers.

I have two SVS SB 2000 subwoofers two prime bookshelf speakers and a prime center speaker will these speakers fit in

Asked by: TCT65
It would depend on the amplifier you are using. The ARENA 180 can handle power of up to 225 W at 6-ohms. As long as you are using an amplifier with the same rating, it should not be a problem. But assuming that you own an SVS prime center which is a 3-way, 8 ohm speaker that has dual 6.5" woofers (20-200 watts), then I think the Studio 280s would be a better fit.

The Recommended Amplifier Power is 20-225W. Would it be safe to use CROWN XLS 1502 (300W/8Ω) with Arena 180 without the risk of damaging them? I use a SCHIIT Freya as Pre-amp.

Will these work well with the JBL ES25CBK? Will the timbre match?

Asked by: Panthro
Both the ARENA 180 and the ES25CBK uses a dome tweeter and have a waveguide orientation. Although the ES25CBK has a super tweeter, and might be slightly brighter than the ARENA 180. It won't be a bad fit.

Looking for some stereo speakers to listen to vinyl & cd's thru a vintage restored Yamaha CA 610 II integrated amp, Which are better suited the Arena's or the Studio floor models. Thanks.

Asked by: 70442
Checking on the specifications of your integrated amp 40W per channel @ 8ohms, both speaker models will work fine with your receiver. Comparing the two models Studio and Arena line, Studio model would be a step higher than the Arena. With this being said, choosing the Studio 280 or 290 Floor standing speakers will give you deeper bass and better sound overall than the Arena 180s.

Do I need a subwoofer ? if I do, which speakers model could you recomend me yo buy?

Asked by: eduardo_doom
If you are looking to complete a 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 or 7.2 speaker system, you would need a sub woofer with the system. Since you are opting to use the ARENA 180 as your floor standing speaker, i would highly suggest that you go with the ARENA SUB 100P.

What would be the long time maximum power it could support? I plan to purchase an AVR but need this data to calculate the power needs. Say if 180 support 50W long time playing, I would purchase a 100W per channel AVR to feed it well.

Asked by: TimberTrail
The ARENA 180 can safely handle a power of up to 225W continuously. This means that driving this speaker at this wattage should not cause any damage.
